Butler's Richardson among top bowlers

WILKES-BARRE — Kevin Richardson of the Butler County Bowling Association rolled a 796 series in singles last weekend at the PSBA state tournament.

Richardson ranks third in singles and fourth in all events with a 2,235. Larry Woomer of the Allegheny Mountain Bowling Association rolled an 847 series in singles to lead the tourney.

Entries remain open through June 1.

B.C. Bears open grid season May 18

The Butler County Bears will open their 2013 semi-pro football season May 18 at the Western Reserve Scourge.

First home game is June 1 against Strabane. The team will play an 11-game schedule with Moniteau High School serving as its home field.

SRU junior Laubach gets lacrosse honor

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior lacrosse standout Lauren Laubach has been named third-team All-PSAC as a midfielder.

Laubach led The Rock with 22 goals and 52 points. She set a single-season school record with 118 draw controls. She ranks second in the nation in that category.
