SWAT team can't find gunman
PITTSBURGH — A city police SWAT team was unable to find a gunman suspected of firing shots in the direction of two officers on routine patrol in Homewood, one of the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods.
Police cleared the area — including four row homes where police thought the shots might have originated — about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, nearly three hours after two officers were fired upon, Cmdr. RaShall Brackney said.
Several people left the row homes at the urging of police, but no one was arrested, and the shooter was not found. Police found bullet casings a block away suggesting the person who fired the shots shortly before 1 p.m. fled before the SWAT team arrived.
