Man who recorded rape is sentenced

NEW CASTLE — A man who stored images of himself raping an 8-year-old girl on a computer tablet that he later sold at a flea market will spend 15 to 30 years in state prison for the sex acts.

Donald Miller of New Castle, 44, was sentenced Thursday. He had previously pleaded guilty to child rape in November.

He was sentenced earlier this month to 27 years in federal prison for the child pornography he created and stored on the tablet.

A woman who bought the tablet from him at an Ohio flea market in late 2013 discovered the images and notified authorities.

Miller will serve both prison terms concurrently in a state prison. If he’s paroled on the state sentence, he’ll serve any remaining federal time in a federal prison.

Judge grants lesser sentence for scams

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 7½ years in federal prison for his role in a counterfeit money scheme based in Uganda, along with several other scams for which he was free on bail when he got caught passing a bogus $100 bill at a coffee shop.

A federal judge indicated in court filings that 29-year-old Joseph Graziano Jr. likely faced at least 11 years in prison before granting an unspecified government motion Thursday and imposing the lesser sentence.
