BUTLER TWP — Monday was a sloppy day for moving, but that's what the Butler Area Sewer Authority had to do regardless of ice and rain.

The BASA staff moved back into its 50-year-old Litman Road office, after the building underwent a complete renovation during the past six months.

A quick tour of the building shows that large open spaces used for billing and accounting, as well as record storage on the street level have been made into individual offices and new handicapped accessible restrooms.

In the center of the floor is a new conference room, to be used for public meetings starting in April.

The ground floor, which had been a garage, also is now offices for the engineering, real estate inspection and informational technology, as well as a map room and record storage.

The two floors are now connected by an elevator, also to bring the building into handicapped accessible compliance.

The $1.6 million project was designed and overseen by The EADS Group of Pittsburgh.

The renovation also updated the building's heating and air conditioning units, the roof and other infrastructure systems.

The office is open for regular business today.
