APOLLO, Pa. — Riverview Cemetery manager Adam Shupe said vandals desecrated about 200 headstones with red spray paint sometime between sundown Friday and Saturday morning.

Shupe says the vandalized tombstones are essentially in a straight line.

Many of the defaced markers are on graves that are more than 200 years old.

Shupe says the nonprofit cemetery association’s board will meet this week to discuss the situation and begin research on restoring the markers.
