PITTSBURGH — Three men have been convicted in a heroin ring that was dismantled in 2013 following a federal investigation.
A jury Thursday found Thomas Hopes of Hill District as well as Keith Harris and Gregory Harris of Homestead guilty of drug dealing. All three are in their early 20s.
The men were also acquitted on charges related to an alleged kidnapping and beating of a fellow drug dealer.
SCRANTON — A former police chief who spent more than 20 months in prison after he was accused of sexually molesting a teenage girl has reached a plea deal with prosecutors that will spare him more time behind bars.Former Old Forge Police Chief Larry Semenza agreed Thursday to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of harassment. He was immediately sentenced to time served.Prosecutors accused Semenza of assaulting a teenage girl on multiple occasions between 2004 and 2007.A jury convicted him of two misdemeanor counts, but cleared him of more serious charges.
