William D. Schaeffer

William D. "Bill" Schaeffer, 58, of Mars died Friday afternoon in a fire at his home.

Born in Johnstown, Nov. 23, 1946, he was the son of the late William J. and Glenna Bax Schaeffer Conner.

He was a general maintenance man at Saxonburg Ceramics.

Mr. Schaeffer was a social member of the Mars VFW Post 7505. He enjoyed hunting and was known as the neighborhood repairman.

Surviving are his wife, Marion Fleming Schaeffer; three sons, William "Will" Schaeffer Jr. of Mars, Jeffrey Schaeffer of Winnebago, Ill., and Alan Schaeffer of Boyers; a brother, Frederick Schaeffer of Littleton, Colo.; and a sister, Cathy Conners of Butler. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

SCHAEFFER - Friends of William D. "Bill" Schaeffer, who died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, will be will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert McCrumb II, pastor of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Memorial donations may be made to Mars Volunteer Fire Co.
