POLICE REPORTS

These items have been collected from various police departments in Western Pennsylvania.

6 a.m. Monday - A portion of southbound Interstate 79 in Springfield Township, Mercer County, was closed for less than 30 minutes after a tractor-trailer driven by John Nelson, no age given, of Niagara Falls, Canada, struck a guardrail and crashed. Police said the crash occurred when Nelson fell asleep at the wheel.Monday - A sport utility vehicle driven by Glenn Shawgo, 80, and a car driven by Pamela Stieren, 40, both of Grove City, collided on Route 208 in Pine Township, Mercer County. Stieren suffered moderate injuries in the crash.Feb. 5 - A small safe containing $100 of rolled coins, and two cartons of cigarettes were taken in a burglary at Hastee's convenience store in Sandy Creek Township, Mercer County. The burglary occurred between 10 p.m. Feb. 4 and 2:20 a.m. Feb. 5.
