Saturday - An estimated $5,000 in property was taken from two vehicles parked on West Pearl Street.The unknown thief took the items after smashing out windows of a car owned by Brent Lynch of Rodman, N.Y., and a pickup truck owned by Melissa Beachem of Butler.Taken from the car were items valued at $3,000, including a stereo, a pair of speakers, two amplifiers, clothes and a phone charger. Taken from the pickup were items valued at $2,000, including about 40 compact discs and undisclosed wedding gifts.
12:16 a.m. Wednesday - An illegal alien from Mexico was arrested after police recovered a vehicle with a stolen license plate at the Colonial Motel on New Castle Road. Federal immigration officials took custody of the suspect, Alberto Perez-Medina.
4:50 a.m. Tuesday - Police are investigating an arson that destroyed a mobile home on Stoneboro Road in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. No other information was immediately available.Sept. 29 - Two suspected illegal aliens from Africa were arrested following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Pine Township, Mercer County. The men, a 54-year-old from Gambia and a 49-year-old from Senegal, were turned over the federal immigration officials.Earlier in the week, police arrested two other men allegedly in the United States illegally. A 39-year-old Chinese national was taken into custody Sept. 28 following a traffic stop on I-80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County, and a 24-year-old from Yemen was arrested Sept. 26 after being stopped on I-80 in Shenango Township, Mercer County.
