Butler Police12:57 p.m. Friday — Dean A. Mentzer, 59, of Butler was charged with retail theft after allegedly trying to steal a $6.49 bottle of nasal decongestant at the Rite Aid store on Main Street. Police cited Mentzer and told him he was not permitted back in the store.12:35 a.m. Aug. 16 — A vehicle driven by Michelle Lynn Kriebel, 25, of Butler struck a parked vehicle owned by Gladys Kramer of Butler while leaving the parking spot behind Kramer's vehicle.
State Police Butler4:40 p.m. Friday — Two 17-year-old Grove City females were charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing items worth a total of $233 from the JC Penny store in the Clearview Mall in Center Township.1 a.m. Friday — Gregory A. Smith Jr., 27, of Karns City was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle wrecked on Route 4004 in Perry Township, Armstrong County. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Both passengers, a 17-year-old Karns City male and a 15-year-old Chicora female, received minor injuries. The girl was wearing a seat belt, but the boy was not.4:27 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Steven Thompson Jr., 48, of Butler struck the rear of a car driven by Rita Vantine, 57, of Butler on Route 8 in Center Township. The impact spun the car counterclockwise. Vantine, who was not wearing a seat belt, received unknown injuries. Thompson was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Thompson was charged with driving too fast for conditions.Thursday — Lucius Chapan, 58, of Slippery Rock reported the theft of four sets of Craftman metric sockets and a red metal gas can from his garage at 641 Kiester Road that occurred between noon Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information about the theft should call state police at 724-284-8100.Thursday — Roger Schmoll, 29, of Karns City reported the driver's side window of his Chevrolet Suburban was smashed between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m. Thursday. Anyone with information about the incident should call state police at 7240284-8100.Monday — A 52-year-old Summit Township man reported the theft of a wallet from his unlocked car which was parked outside his Headland Road residence that occurred between 1 and 9 a.m. Police did not release the man's name.State Police, Kittanning1:45 a.m. Friday — Quentin Beere, 35, of Sarver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following an equipment violation stop on Route 66 in Manor Township, Armstrong County.Thursday — The Ford City Sportsman's Association reported the theft of $330 worth of copper from its North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, site at 199 Game lands Road that occurred between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday.Wednesday — Lenore Roessing, 81, of North Buffalo Township reported the theft of a diamond ring set in platinum from her bedroom and about 30 Ativan 1 milligram tablets from her bathroom at her home at 116 Crain Drive that occurred between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police report no forced entry into the residence.
