1:58 a.m. Tuesday — Zackary Bortz, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at North Monroe and East Pearl streets in Butler.12:45 a.m. Tuesday — Justin Cowans, 25, of Verona, Allegheny County, was arrested on drug charges after police allegedly found 50 stamp bags of suspected heroin and crack cocaine in his car following a traffic stop at Hansen Avenue and Pillow Street in Butler. He is being held in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond.2:01 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Matthew Schmidt, 24, of Fredonia, N.Y., struck an embankment on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Schmidt, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital.He was cited for careless driving and driving too fast for conditions.Sunday — An unknown burglar took three gold rings, a wedding band and a pair of tennis bracelets from the Route 268 home of Michael Andreassi in Fairview Township. The burglary occurred between Oct. 23 and Saturday.
