3:26 p.m. Friday — John Kelly, 26, of Butler is accused of walking into a North Bluff Street apartment and assaulting the tenant who lives there.Police said they were called to the apartment and found 24-year-old Aaron Arnold bleeding from the nose; he also had bruising and swelling about the ear, shoulder and back.While Arnold said Kelly started the fight, Kelly told police Arnold was the instigator. Police charged Kelly with simple assault in the case. Police, meanwhile, placed Kelly in the Butler County Prison after learning he was wanted on unrelated charges.7:35 a.m. Aug. 20 — Acar driven by Patricia Quinn, 59, of Butler and a sport utility vehicle driven by Amy Young, 32, of Oakland Township collided at Third and Eau Claire streets.
Friday — Nine people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUIcheckpoint on Route 8 in Penn Township.Officers said 507 vehicles were stopped.Also, two people were arrested on drug charges and one for underage drinking.Additionally, officers issued 28 traffic citations and two warnings.
1:52 a.m. Sunday — Acar driven by Barry Lafler, 59, of Ridge, N.Y., struck a tree at Branchton Road and Route 38 in Washington Township.12:01 a.m. Sunday — Jill Wynn Kennedy, 24, of Evans City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Sunset Drive in Center Township.7:35 p.m. Saturday — Anthony Rogers, 19, of New Castle is accused of violating a protection from abuse order by contacting Kim Stevenson, 18, at a Landmark Alley Road home in Chicora. Police said Rogers is charged with indirect criminal contempt.10 a.m. Saturday — Acar driven by Daniel Koebler, 21, of Mercer crashed head-on into a tree along Route 58 in Marion Township. Koebler was flown by medical helicopter with moderate injuries to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.12:53 a.m. Saturday — Joseph Bayne, 40, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Routes 68 and 268 in Fairview Township.Friday — A 25-year-old Butler area man is suspected of stealing a prescription of Oxycodone pills after allegedly breaking into a Chicora Road home in Oakland Township. Police said they expect to charge the suspect with burglary and other charges.Friday — A Wii video game console and video game were stolen between 12:01 a.m. and noon from an apartment at Pine Glenn Apartments on Keister Road in Slippery Rock Township. The property, owned by Alex Baumann of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, is valued at $350.
7:48 a.m. Sunday — Megan Alicia Browne, 24, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car crossed both lanes of traffic and struck a guardrail on Airport Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County.1:55 a.m. Saturday — Joshua Cornelius, 25, of Harrisville was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 208 at the Kwik Fill store in Springfield Township, Mercer County.
Friday — A $45,000 excavator was reported stolen from the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Main Street in Worthington, Armstrong County. The theft occurred between 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:45 p.m. Friday. Toy's Custom Fencing of Chicora owns the orange and gray, Kubota KX121-3 excavator.
