5:02 p.m. Sunday — Austin Rottman, 21, of Butler swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer and struck a curb and part of an embankment on Route 8 south just past Hansen Avenue. Rottman suffered a minor injury.3:46 p.m. Saturday — Clinton Duncan, 65, of Butler broke his shoulder when a car rear-ended the motorcycle he was driving at Routes 356 and 68. Duncan, who fell off the cycle, was stopped at a red light.Susan Miller, 53, of Renfrew, who was driving the car, was cited for not stopping at a red light.A Butler Ambulance Service crew treated Duncan at the scene before taking him to Butler Memorial Hospital. Greenwood Village volunteer firefighters assisted police.2:37 p.m. Saturday — Stephen McClintock, 24, who is homeless, was arrested after allegedly shoplifting $263 in clothing from the Walmart at Butler Commons. He ran away from the store but didn't get far before police nabbed him.McClintock was arraigned on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property, and placed in Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.Saturday — A suspected shoplifter was arrested after allegedly punching a Walmart security officer. The suspect, Lucas J. McMaster, 26, of Butler, tried to make off with merchandise valued at $18.50.McMaster, who is charged with robbery, retail theft, harassment and disorderly conduct, is free on $3,000 bail.6:15 p.m. Friday — Timothy Korn, 27, of Butler lost control of his pickup truck when he swerved to avoid a deer, and crashed on Old Plank Road. The truck spun out, hit a tree, rolled down a hill and ended on its wheels in a creek.Police noted that Korn was wearing a seat belt and walked away unhurt. His truck, however, was severely damaged and had to be towed away.
Monday — Zachary P. Lozovoy, 20, of Harmony, Beaver County, was arrested on charges he had sex with a 15-year-old boy at a home in the township last month.Police suspect Lozovoy and the boy met online, after which the defendant Sept. 4 visited the alleged victim at his home and assaulted him, according to court documents.A child psychologist treating the boy later called authorities to report the suspected assault. Lozovoy during an interview Sept. 18 with police admitted he and the boy had sex, documents said.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of a minor. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Sunday — The Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church reported damage to several windows and window screens at its building on East Poplar Street in an apparent failed burglary attempt between Friday evening and Sunday morning.Police said it appeared the unknown suspect cut through the window screens and tried to get through the windows with a pry tool. A damage estimate was unknown at the time of the report.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.1:39 a.m. Friday — Andrew J. Klaus, 23, of Slippery Rock was arrested for driving under the influence after his vehicle struck the curb and got a flat tire on West Main Street at Stewart Avenue. In addition to DUI, police cited Klaus for careless driving and driving without rear lights.Friday — Police arrested Christin R. Wilson, 30, of Grove City for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after checking on his well-being at a home in the 200 block of Jackson Street. He was arraigned on charges and placed in Mercer County Jail on $10,000 bail.Friday — A boy reported that his Motorola Droid Razr M cell phone valued at $200 was stolen from his book bag at the Grove City High School. The theft between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
6:52 a.m. Monday — A Pittsburgh man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his minivan into an embankment on Route 28 just south of Freeport Road in North Buffalo Township. The van, driven by Vladyslav Hevko, 34, rolled over and landed on its wheels. Hevko, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Friday — An unknown identity thief made four unauthorized purchases totaling $574 using the credit card account number and other personal information of a 43-year-old North Buffalo Township man.All four of the illegal purchases, including a pair at Victoria's Secret, were traced to businesses in Richmond, Va.
