Robert and Fay Hood of Valencia celebrated 62 years of marriage with a family dinner at the Waterhole Restaurant near Zelienople. The celebration will continue with a family picnic in September at the Hood farm.

The former Fay Garman married Hood on July 31, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio.

They have two children, Linda Jansen of Valencia and Larry Hood of Newburg Park, Calif.

They also have two grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Hood is retired from Graybar Electric of Pittsburgh and Greensburg and Allied Electric of Butler and Pittsburgh. He does battle each year with the groundhogs for a beautiful and bountiful garden. He enjoys exercising at the Allegheny Power Gym in Warrendale. Hood is a member of the Argus Lodge in Canfield, Ohio and is a 32nd degree mason.

Mrs. Hood is a homemaker and an avid cook and baker. She continues to send cakes and breads to her son and grandchildren. Mrs. Hood also enjoys knitting, recently donating an afghan she made to raise money for the Mars Library.
