Allen and Helen Shute of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a dinner for family and friends at the Tanglewood Senior Center in Lyndora.

The former Helen Sanford married Shute on Oct. 23, 1954, at First Presbyterian Church in Leechburg.

They have two daughters, Karen Zedreck of Meridian and Brenda Shute of Cranberry Township.

They also have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Shute retired from Armco Steel's strip shipping department after 38 years.

Mrs. Shute worked for 10 years at Bobbie Brooks until the business closed.

The Shutes are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
