Leonard and Esther Sassone of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a private family dinner and gathering.

The former Esther Herr married Sassone on June 9, 1955 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

They have three sons, John Sassone, Brady Sassone and Ed Sassone, all of Butler County.

They also have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sassone is retired from Pullman Standard.

Mrs. Sassone is retired from Center Township Elementary School where she worked as a teacher.

The couple attends North Main Street Church of God where they are members of the 60 Plus or Minus group. They enjoy traveling, gardening, card playing, entertaining and dining out.
