The Rev. Roger Sr. and Sally Shaffer of Charlotte, N.C., will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a cruise to the Caribbean hosted by their children and grandchildren.

The former Sally Popa married Shaffer on June 14, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard, Ohio.

They have three children, Roger Shaffer Jr. and Jeffrey Shaffer, both of Hermitage, and Lisa Allen of Charlotte.

They also have two grandchildren.

A retired Methodist Minister, Shaffer served from 1985 to 1995 at the First United Methodist Church in Butler. He is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Shaffer is also retired. She is a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

The couple enjoys Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, gardening and travel.
