Lewis and Gail Nicklas of Prospect celebrated 50 years of marriage Saturday. A family gathering will be held at a later time.

The former Gail Davidson married Nicklas on June 25, 1955, at Mars United Presbyterian Church.

They have three children, Mark Nicklas of Manassas, Va.; Scott Nicklas of Germany; and Susan Wittey of Palmer, Alaska.

They also have five grandchildren.

Mr. Nicklas retired in 1995 from the maintenance department of the Butler School District. He belongs to Community Alliance Church in Butler, where he works on the hospitality committee. He also volunteers with Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Nicklas retired in 1997 from the St. John Care Center in Mars. She also belongs to Community Alliance Church, where she works on the hospitality committee and serves as a deaconess.
