Richard and Ruth Sekara of Saxonburg will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a train trip to California.

The former Ruth Wise married Sekara on Sept. 9, 1955, at the home of the bride's parents in Saxonburg.

They have three children, Karen Crumpton of Quinta, Calif.; Kathi Sekara of Natrona Heights; and Paul Sekara of Butler. They also have three grandchildren.

Sekara retired from Roessing Bronze in Mars after 40 years. A veteran of the Army, he served as a sergeant during the Korean War. He enjoys gardening and is an avid Steelers fan.

Mrs. Sekara is retired from G.C. Murphy Company. She is the owner of Ruth's Cookies and Crafts and works as a clerk at the Special Thoughts Gift Shoppe. She is also an active volunteer and a member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church in Valencia.
