Dr. Curtis Ruff of Gibsonia, will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Armstrong Building, 437 N. Main St., Butler.

Ruff was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Slippery Rock. He married Ilagene Kniess.

Ruff is retired from Butler Memorial Hospital, where he worked as a general surgeon for 35 years. He also completed a fellowship at the at the Mayo Clinic. A veteran of the Army, he served at a German POW camp during World War II.

He enjoys sailing, photography, gardening, woodworking and traveling to Maine.
