Gerald and Lois “Fern” Anthony of East Brady celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a surprise family picnic at the home of their neighbors in East Brady.

The former Lois Griffiths married Anthony on Sept. 16, 1955, at Mount Pleasant Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicora.

They have four children, Kirby Anthony of Fredrick, Md.; Charlene Newbern and Bryce Anthony, both of Butler; and Melinda Gilhousen of Rimersburg.

They also have five grandchildren.

Anthony retired from the Penzoil Refinery in Karns City after 31 years. He was employed as a plant mechanic. He is a member of the American Legion in Bradys Bend.

Mrs. Anthony is a homemaker.

The couple belongs to Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora.
