Helen and Lorain Christy

Lorain and Helen Christy of Butler will celebrate 60 years of marriage with a family celebration.

The former Helen Gillis married Christy on April 3, 1946, at her home in Meridian.

The couple has five children: Lorain Christy Jr. and Dwayne Christy, both of Butler, James Christy of Allison Park, Carolyn Christy of Pompton Plains, N.J., and Penny Christy of Nanty Glo. They also have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Christy is a former employee of Armco, retiring in 1986. He served during World War II in the 11th Airborne 187th Division in the Philippines.Mrs. Christy retired in 1988 from her job at Butler County Children's Center.
