Dorothy Moon of Butler celebrated her 90th birthday recently with a lunch for family and friends at Unionville Fire Hall.

The former Dorothy Swope was born March 30, 1917, in Coaltown. She married William Moon Dec. 3, 1935. He is deceased.

She has eight children, Evelyn Brown of Tipp City, Ohio; Esther Galura, Gladys Caldwell and Karen Moon, all of Butler; Emily Wonderly of Berghill, Ohio; William Moon of Oklahoma; David Moon of Langhorn; and Rosemary Addison of Volant.

She also has 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Mrs. Moon is a former employee of Castle Rubber Company in East Butler. She retired in 1979.

She is a member of West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene, where she has held several roles including teaching Sunday school for 40 years.

She is an avid reader and enjoys working on crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for many years.
