Harry Lindey Jr. of Slippery Rock celebrated his 80th birthday with a surprise party May 26 in Harlansburg. The celebration continued the next day with a family picnic at his daughter's home in Saxonburg.

Lindey was born May 3, 1927, in Brady Township. He married his wife Millicent on Sept. 24, 1953.

They have three children, Gail Clelland of Richmond, Va., Paula Reed of Saxonburg and Suzanne Olson of Schenectady, N.Y. The Lindeys also have two granddaughters.

Lindey is retired from his job as a self-employed auto mechanic. He belongs to Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.
