John and Harriet Garing of Chicora will celebrate 40 years of marriage with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora.

The former Harriet Groves married Garing Sept. 9, 1967, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chicora.

They have three children, Kimberly Dodds, John Garing Jr. and Thomas Garing, all of Chicora.

They also have eight grandchildren.

Garing is retired from Penreco, where he was employed for 50 years.

Mrs. Garing is a homemaker.

The couple belongs to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora.
