Edith Carben of Chicora will celebrate her 80th birthday with a family dinner Saturday at the Hardwood Café in Penn Township. Asummer party also is planned.

The former Edith Fisher was born March 16, 1928, in Penn Township. She married Joseph Carben on Aug. 1, 1949. He is deceased.

She has six children, Susan Coyle, Joseph Carben Jr. and John Carben, all of Butler; Jeffrey Carben and Jason Carben, both of Chicora; and Jerald Carben of Herman. Another son, Richard Carben, is deceased.

She also has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carben is a homemaker.

She is a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she belongs to the Christian Mothers group.
