Dorothy Gunther of Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II celebrated her 85th birthday recently with a family gathering at the J Barn Country Inn.

The former Dorothy Detke was born June 5, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio. She married Henry Gunther on Sept. 23, 1944, in New Castle. He is deceased.

She has four children: Sharen Weldon of Pittsburgh, Linda Yaro of Lexington, Ky., Darryl Gunther of Cranberry Township and Tracy Fasnacht of Irwin. Another son, Craig Gunther, is deceased.

She also has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A homemaker for most of her life, Gunther is a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot. She enjoys quilting, reading, visiting family and cheering on the Pittsburgh sports teams.
