Dittman 50th anniversary

The Dittmans in 1958

Meredith "Ditty" and Mary Lou Dittman of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner July 11 at Natili's North provided by their daughter.

Dittman married the former Chiyoko Takida on July 11, 1958, at the U.S. Consulate office in Naha, Okinawa, Japan.

They have one daughter, Ruth Ann.

Dittman is retired from Penreco. He enjoys building models and working with plastic canvas. He is a life member of the V.F.W. Post 7073 in Parker and the American Legion Post 636 in Foxburg. He was also in the Italy 36 Infantry Division in World War II.Mrs. Dittman became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1970 and changed her name to Mary Lou. She belongs to the Sakura Club, a group of Japanese wives of Americans who meet twice a year at Sushi Tomo in Pittsburgh.
