Burdette S. Clark

Burdette S. Clark, 89, of Meadow Lake Manor Personal Care Home, Sugar Creek Rest, Worthington, formerly of Butler, died Sunday in the emergency room at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 4, 1917, in Hooker, he was the son of Thomas and Carrie Thornberg Clark.

He attended the Chicora United Methodist Church.

Mr. Clark enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During World War II, he served with the Army's 1303rd Engineers General Service Regiment, achieved the rank of private first class and served from July 26, 1942, to Oct. 25, 1945.

Surviving are a son, Jeffery Albert Clark of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Emile (Laureen) Vlassich of Karns City; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie McClafferty of Butler and Mrs. Joseph (Shirley) Spohn of West Sunbury.

His wife, May M. Brady Clark, whom he married Jan. 14, 1945, died Aug. 24, 1980. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter and three brothers.

<B>CLARK </B>— Friends of Burdette S. Clark, who died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 Slippery Rock St., Chicora, Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randall Forester, pastor of the Community Alliance Church of Chicora, officiating. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery, Hooker.
