NEW BETHLEHEM — The Karns City football juggernaut continues to roll as it remains unbeaten in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference.

The Gremlins rushed for 327 yards behind an offensive line that was missing two starters en route to a 23-0 win over previously unbeaten Redbank Valley.

The Gremlins offensive line was without junior tackles Nick Sypulski and Ray Emery due to injuries, but the offense didn't miss a beat. Sophomores Jake Wagner and Tylar Parker stepped in to help Karns City post two 100-yard rushers.

"Those guys, to come out and do what they did tonight speaks volumes," Karns City coach Ed Conto said.

Brett Green and Markus LaVan were the beneficiaries of the strong offensive line play with 117 yards and 118 yards, respectively.

"They were the better team," Redbank Valley coach Ed Wasilowski said. "They did nothing we didn't work on. They counter-trapped us to death. We had a guy right where he was supposed to be, but didn't make the plays."

Karns City had 11 rushing plays that went for more than 10 yards.

As well as the offense was running the ball, Karns City's defense was just as stellar stuffing the run.

Bulldogs featured running back Alex Bladel was held to 82 yards on 20 carries, with 42 yards coming on his first carry of the game.

"They have played great all year against the spread," Conto said of his defense. "We mixed up our zones."

Jake Smith wasn't on top of his game for Redbank Valley as well. The senior quarterback was 8-for-27 with two interceptions and failed to punch the ball in twice inside the 20-yard line.

"We had a lot of second-and-long," Wasilowski said. "That isn't our game. (Smith) wasn't hitting early, and when he was, we were dropping the ball."

Mike McConnell got the Gremlins on the board in the first quarter after he hauled in an Anthony Stimac pass from 27 yards out. Backup quarterback Chris Price also threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Josh Callender in the second quarter to open a 14-0 lead at the half.

Price stepped in after Stimac injured his leg and guided the Gremlins to a late fourth-quarter touchdown.

"Anthony Stimac got hurt and Price did a good job in there," Conto said. "Our backups stepped up tonight."

With the win, Karns City (5-0, 4-0) and Moniteau (4-1, 4-0) remain unbeaten in conference play. They meet in two weeks.

"We now have to go back to power football," Conto said about playing Clarion next week. "We have to save this for Moniteau. They run the spread.
