Model trains wend their way through lush plantings in Phipps Conservatory's summer flower show.

PITTSBURGH — Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens takes visitors on a journey as small-scale trains wind through summer blooms.

The summer flower show features a variety of railroad displays enhanced by flowers, plants and interactive features.

Model trains chug through landscapes sprinkled with lush ground cover, sedums and other low-growing plants, passing through cities, towns and farmlands dotted with handcrafted models and figurines.

The show runs through Oct. 5. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. Fridays.

Admission is $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and students, and $11 for children ages 2 to 18. Members and children under 2 enter free.
