PITTSBURGH — Police have arrested a homicide suspect at a his high school prom in Pittsburgh and taken him to police headquarters in a white tuxedo.

The 17-year-old boy arrested Friday at the Schenley High School prom is accused of participating in a March 1 robbery in which a 16-year-old accomplice, James Owens, was shot in the back by accident. Owens died March 14 at a hospital.

On Thursday, detectives arrested a 20-year-old suspect and obtained a warrant for the 17-year-old boy. Police say the boy was informed by a homicide detective that a warrant was out for his arrest but he decided not to turn himself in, so he was arrested at the prom.

UNIONTOWN — A southwestern Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of his 12-year-old son.Fayette County District Attorney Nancy Vernon says 40-year-old Michael Alvin Muha Jr. agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of two and a half to five years in prison. Police have said they don't believe Muha intended to kill Michael Alvin Muha III.The shooting began with a Nov. 23 domestic dispute at their home in Redstone Township. The elder Muha's girlfriend, Tasha Miciotto, was also wounded.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating the discovery of a loaded handgun in the men's room of a restaurant.State police say a 7-year-old boy found the .357 Taurus was in the men's bathroom Wednesday afternoon at TGI Friday's in South Strabane Township, in Washington County. But the restaurant chain disputes that. Spokeswoman Amy Freshwater says an adult found the gun and stayed with it to make sure nobody touched it until the restaurant manager could be summoned. She says an off-duty police officer was in the restaurant at the time and that officer took possession of the firearm.

SHANKSVILLE — The National Park Service has acquired about 950 acres for the Flight 93 National Memorial in southwestern Pennsylvania.Friday's announcement said it was the largest single acquisition of private land for the memorial near Shanksville, about 65 miles east-southeast of Pittsburgh.The land includes the only road connecting U.S. 30 to the crash site. This will allow visitors to go to the memorial without driving on local roads and disturbing residents.
