Ownership of time capsule disputed

A demolition company has been ordered to give a 120-year-old time capsule to the Sen. John Heinz History Center while it wrangles with the city over its ownership.

The center said Wednesday the capsule’s value is more historical than monetary and it would like to exhibit plans, photographs and other items found inside.

The capsule was uncovered during last month’s demolition of the John Brashear factory.

Jadell Minniefield Construction Services said it had salvage rights to the capsule. The city disagrees and is withholding payment for the demolition.
