Betty M. Whitmer
Betty M. Whitmer, 75, of 513 Main St., Emlenton, died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday at UPMC Northwest in Franklin.
She was born in Bruin Jan. 1, 1930, and was the daughter of Edwin C. and Florence Durnell Wolff.
Mrs. Whitmer worked at the IGA grocery store in Emlenton for 17 years before retiring in 1990.
She was a Lutheran and a 42-year member of the Dehart Rossman Wenner American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Whitmer volunteered at Books Galore at Crawford Center in Emlenton and for Faith Action. She was a member of the Parker Senior Center, and she enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, gardening and driving for senior citizens.
She is survived by a son, Richard Whitmer of State College; two daughters, Loretta Whitmer of Pittsburgh and Victoria Whitmer of Emlenton; a sister, Nina Lee Manuel of West Sunbury; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Whitmer was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Whitmer, who died in August 1978, and by a brother.
WHITMER - A private service for Betty M Whitmer, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, will be held at the convenience of her family.
