Deadly day in Iraq - 169
An Iraqi soldier secures the scene following an explosion in Baghdad today. At least 88 people were killed and 227 wounded when a suicide bomber detonated his vehicle near a group of construction workers in north Baghdad, police said.
It was the deadliest of as many as 12 explosions in the Iraqi capital today. Other explosions and killings - including the slayings of 17 men in a village north of Baghdad - pushed the death toll to more than 152 people. Al-Qaida in Iraq said it was behind the attacks.
