The Schnurs in 1959

Dean and Loretta Schnur of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a mass at St. Mary's Church in Herman and a reception at the Herman Fire Hall.

Schnur married the former Loretta Callihan on July 11, 1959, in St. Paul's in Butler.

They have six children, Daniel Schnur of Butler, Roy Schnur of Harrisburg, Tim Schnur, Theresa Tosi and Mark Schnur, all of Butler, and Maria Schaffer of York.

They also have 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Schnur is retired from Armco, where he worked as a breakup foreman and continuous caster.

Mrs. Schnur is a homemaker. She is involved with St. Mary's Herman Christian Mothers and volunteered for 30 years at St. Mary's fish fries and for 10 years as a teacher's aide.
