Grace Heltzell

Grace Heltzell of Concordia, formerly of Meridian, is celebrating her 100th birthday with a get-together with family and friends at the Lund Care Center in Cabot.

The former Grace Hochberg was born in Verona, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1909, and married Melvin Heltzell on May 19, 1937.

She has one son, three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

She has been a resident at Concordia for 10 years.

A member at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, Heltzell worked as her father's secretary then as the assistant society editor for the Butler Eagle until her retirement.

She enjoys golfing, quilting and spending time with friends and family. In her younger days, she played basketball for William Penn School.
