McCarrier 50th anniversary
Bill and Irene McCarrier of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a Panama Canal cruise and a family dinner.
McCarrier married the former Irene Trabert on Dec. 30, 1960, in Grove City with the Rev. Dr. Harry A. Rodgers, professor of religion at Grove City College, presiding.
They have three children, William McCarrier Jr., Brian McCarrier and John McCarrier, all of Butler. They also have six grandchildren.
The McCarriers are retired from Interstate Pipe and Supply Co., where McCarrier worked as founder and president for 30 years.
Mrs. McCarrier worked as a bookkeeper for the company for many years.
McCarrier also served as a Butler County Commissioner from 1996 to 1999.
He currently serves on many boards in the community, including as secretary of the Community Development Corporation and as a trustee for Butler County Community College. He has also been involved with the Masons and the Shriners and has held many offices in those bodies.
Mrs. McCarrier is involved with the Butler Women’s Connection and enjoys sewing and crafts.
The McCarriers enjoy traveling and ballroom dancing.
They attend First United Methodist Church.
