Polliard 100th birthday
Florence Ruth Polliard of Mount Dora, Fla., will celebrate her 100th birthday with a May 17 card shower.
Cards may be sent to Polliard at the Edgewater, 300 Brookfield Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757.
The former Florence Ruth King was born May 18, 1911, in Kingsville, Clarion County.
She married George Polliard on Dec. 29, 1936, at her parents’ home in Kingsville.
She has one child, Jean Cannassa of Orlando, Fla. Another child, Mary Jane Sunderlin, is deceased.
She also has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Polliard graduated in 1931 from Clarion Normal School. She taught school for three years in one-room schools in rural Clarion County. She owned and operated Polliard’s Service for 34 years in Mercer County.
She belongs to Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer.
