Mars bats stay hot in 13-1 win
Mars continued its torrid pace on the baseball field Wednesday, winning a 13-1 decision at Penn Hills in six innings.
The Planets (9-5, 6-3) have won four straight games, outscoring their opponents 56-4 over that stretch.
JJ Wetherholt and Johnny Fratto combined for six hits, five RBI and five runs scored against Penn Hills. Mitchell Schultz hit a two-run homer.
Winning pitcher Alex Heavner allowed two hits in 5.1 innings and collected two hits and three RBI at the plate.

Olivia Vissari belted three home runs — including a grand slam — to lead Knoch to a 20-9 victory over Freeport.
Vissari had seven RBI in the game. Madi Gardner also homered and collected five RBI.
Taylor Davis and Brynnae Coe had three-hit games for the Knights. Autumn Powell had four hits and Sydney Selker three, including a homer, for the Yellowjackets.

Boys Volleyball
Noah Diamond had seven kills to lead Butler to a 3-0 victory over Latrobe. Scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-16.
Carson Stein had 11 passes and Kaleb Wojnar 19 assists for Butler (9-6, 5-4), which plays in the Meadville Tournament Saturday.
Track and Field
North Catholic's Trevor Paschall won the 100, 200 and 400 meter races for the boys, Tara Lucot the 400, 800 and long jump for the girls, during the WPIAL Class AA team semifinal meet at Shenango.
Shenango won both meets to advance to the team finals. Riverview, Burrell and New Brighton also competed.
Moniteau swept its meet with Keystone, the boys winning 92-58, the girls 139.2-10.1.
Hannah Burgoon won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters for the Warrior girls. David Stamm swept the throwing events, Cody Daniels the jumping events for the boys.
