JEFFERSON TWP — Knoch and Mars schools have gone pink to support breast cancer awareness.

Following a junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m. tonight, the Knoch High School boys varsity soccer team will wear pink socks in their game against Deer Lakes to honor victims of breast cancer.

Raffles and concession stand profits from the game will be donated to breast cancer education and research.

Similarly, the Knoch girls varsity soccer team had their Pink Out on Monday when they played Freeport.

Becky Gore of Renfrew, a soccer booster mother, organized the Pink Out nights to honor her mother, Donna Snyder of Marionville. Snyder has been in remission and cancer free for 16 years, Gore said. Her daughter, Abbey, plays on the girls' team in honor of her grandmother, Gore said.

The Mars School District is one of the biggest fundraisers for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, said Josh Schwoebel, director of communications for the district. Two fundraising events are planned at Mars schools and one already took place.
