Shirey 50th anniversary
Donald and Virginia Shirey of Sarver will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open service of celebration at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 678 Sarver Road, Sarver, followed by a family dinner at Garrett's Place in Sarver.
Shirey married the former Virginia Roenigk on July 21, 1962, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
They have three children, Gina Shirey of Juneau, Alaska, Jonathan Shirey of Loveland, Ohio, and JoAnna Halenda of Mars.
They also have seven grandchildren.
Shirey retired as an associate professor from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996.
He is the treasurer and driver for Freeport Meals on Wheels and an avid home gardener.
Mrs. Shirey retired as a mathematics teacher from the South Butler County School District in 2002.
She is a leader of the Presbyterian Women at Buffalo Church and a member of the Butler County Chapter of Pa. Association of School Retirees and the American Sewing Guild.The Shireys are members of Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
