Elizabeth Nelson of Cabot, formerly of Richland Township, celebrated her 100th birthday with a family gathering at Lund Care Center of Concordia at Cabot.

The former Elizabeth Moore was born on March 31, 1913, in Benton, Ill. She married the late Elwood Nelson on Feb. 14, 1940, in her garden at home in Benton.

She earned a master’s degree in English and taught at the college level in Illinois.

She loves being outside at Concordia.
