MONACA — Emergency responders freed a man whose arm was trapped in an underground conveyer belt. Officials said the man's arm became pinned shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday at Colona River Service in Monaca, which loads and unloads barges on the Ohio River.

Firefighters said the victim was loading limestone onto a conveyor belt when his arm was trapped. More than six rescue crews worked for more than two hours and managed to free the man shortly after 6:30 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Mercy.

PLUM — Officials said a ski lift was closed after a malfunction stranded a group of skiers and snowboarders in the air for the third time in as many weeks.Officials said the Boyce Park lift stalled at 8 p.m. Saturday stranding more than 30 people. Rescue crews used a rope and pulley to get them down.
