PENN TWP — This year's Celebrate Business dinner, hosted by the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, will name the Butler Eagle and Butler Memorial Hospital as the Chamber Business Champions 2010.

The dinner will be held Sept. 15 at the Butler Country Club in Penn Township and also will present the William A. Morgan Jr. Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2010 to John Buckner and Tom Buckner, the owners of Ibis Tek in Middlesex Township.

PARKER — Cheryl Clinger is retiring from Central Electric Cooperative after 28 years of service. Clinger started out as assistant bookkeeper and moved to senior accountant. Her responsibilities included processing work orders, billing sales and other accounting functions.Clinger lives in St. Petersburg, Clarion County. She has a daughter, Dawn, son-in-law, Brian, and two grandchildren, Casey and Sydney. During retirement, Cheryl plans to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.Central Electric serves about 25,000 members with more than 3,000 miles of distribution lines in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.

PITTSBURGH — Kraig McEwen, formerly a senior vice president with MEDRAD in Warrendale, was named president and chief executive officer of CardiacAssist in Pittsburgh.McEwen joined MEDRAD in 2004 and worked on growing the company's cardiovascular interventional device business.CardiacAssist, maker of TandemHeart, which helps circulatory support for cardiac patients, develops, manufactures and markets cardiac assist devices.

Butler Downtown and the Butler County Young Professionals will host a networking event at a Butter BlueSox game at 6 p.m. Thursday.The event is open to the public at a cost of $8 per ticket. Tickets include a networking get-together before the game at Big Big Design, 129 Pillow St., next to Pullman Park, and a box seat at the ballgame. At the networking event, there will be chips, hot dogs and beverages. Attendees of legal drinking age are able to BYOB.The groups also will hold a fundraiser during the seventh inning stretch called the MedExpress Ducky Derby. At its recent awards dinner, The Arc of Butler County presented its Employment Award to the YWCA on West Cunningham Street for the employment of Richard Burns.Burns will join the YWCA in September to become a maintenance man in the Under Our Wing building.

• MSA announced net sales for the second quarter of 2010 were $237.2 million, compared to $227.2 million for the second quarter of 2009, an increase of $10 million, or 4 percent.Net income for the second quarter of 2010 was $11.8 million, or 33 cents per basic share, a decrease of $700,000, or 5 percent, compared with $12.5 million, or 35 cents per basic share, for the same quarter last year.
