With wins over West Shamokin and Shady Side Academy the past two weeks, Freeport has rebounded from a slow start.
However, the Yellowjackets (3-4, 2-3) will travel to meet Allegheny Conference leader Valley (5-2, 5-0) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday.
The Vikings, who defeated Ford City 27-20 in a battle of section unbeatens entering the contest, took a 27-0 lead at the half.
Anthony Howell was nearly perfect, completing nine of 10 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns.
The Vikings are also led by receivers Toney Clemons and Madison Harvey and running backs Dwight Shannon, Tyler Santucci, Darwin Banks and Jordan Kozik.
For Freeport, Bryan Zimmerman threw for 110 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to Josh Schrecengost and rushed for another score A.J. Vidra accounted for the Yellowjackets other score on a 57-yard punt return.
Grove City (3-3, 2-3) at Mercer (1-5, 1-4), Friday, 7 p.m. - This may be too deep a hole for Grove City to climb out of.
With three losses in Region 3, the Eagles need a near miracle to get into the playoffs.
They will face a team in Mercer that would like nothing better than to knock off its neighbor.
The Mustangs use an option offense led by quarterback Devin Wasser, who has also shown the ability to throw the ball this season.
Grove City has had trouble running the football in recent weeks, but quarterback Jesse Alfreno is quietly having a solid season, throwing for nearly 800 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Union (0-6) at Lakeview (1-5) - These two teams met in the season finale last year with Lakeview winning 57-0.The Sailors finished 7-3 last season, but have struggled this season.Struggling is nothing new for Union, which dropped its 27th straight game.
Laurel (5-3, 3-2) at Summit Academy (3-4, 2-3), Saturday, 12:30 p.m. - The Knights used three touchdown runs by Vaughn Horton and two apiece from Delaney Huggins and David Lawrence to roll past Union 48-0 to pick up their third win in four weeks.The Spartans are tied for third in the Tri-County North and will try to keep their playoff hopes alive.They are coming off a shutout of their own, a 32-0 win over Neshannock, including a scoring pass and run by quarterback Corey Collins, who threw for 152 yards.
A-C Valley at Redbank Valley, Friday, 7 p.m. - The Falcons (1-4, 1-3) are coming off their first victory in nine games, a 26-13 decision over Union.The Bulldogs (3-3, 2-2) beat Cochranton last week, 35-7 to halt a three-game losing skid.Redbank Valley relies on the Brandon Doverspike-to-Nick Johnston aerial connection.Entering the Cochranton game, Doverspike had passed for six touchdowns while Johnston had tallied 388 receiving yards andfive scores.
