Smith

Marie E. Smith, 87, of Butler died Wednesday at her home.

Born July 7, 1921, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Albert Frederick and the late Elsie Fisher Frederick.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the Pirates and the Steelers, and also being with her family.

Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Patricia "Patty" Smith of Butler; one sister, Mrs. George (Mildred "Millie") Blatt of Chicora; and one brother-in-law, Hayden Robertson of Medford, Ore. She also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, a number of great-nieces and great-nephews and a number of great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Frank" Smith on Sept. 26, 1968; one brother, Richard "Dick" Frederick; and four sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Geibel, Mrs. Thomas (Hazel) Scott, Mrs. Glenn (Ethel Mae "Effie") Moser and Mrs. Alberta (Birdie) Robertson.

<B>SMITH</B> — Friends of Marie E. Smith, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
