Students play with Pgh. Symphony
Area students are participants in both the Audience of the Future program and the annual Side-by-Side concert, both conducted by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
The Side-by-Side show and the finale of the Audience of the Future project will culminate with a “Sound of Movement” concert at 7 p.m. Friday in Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh.
The first half of the program will show off what the students have planned through their Audience of the Future project.
The second half of the concert will feature students playing side-by-side with orchestra members.
Students from various high schools were selected based on their musical ability and teacher recommendations to play side-by-side with the Pittsburgh Symphony musicians and have been rehearsing since early March to prepare for this performance.

Audience of the FutureThe mission of the Audience of the Future program is to engage high school students in the planning, production and implementation of a PSO concert, as well as to cultivate future audience members and advocates for symphonic music.There are 14 students from Knoch High School participating in PSO's Audience of the Future.They are: Becky Korff, Tena Pettit, John Reid, Kallie Simpson, Thea Teets, Katie King, Nichole Porch, Terry Thompson, Courtney Zacherl, Mya Hitt, Leanne Kitzky, Cheyenne Sutton, April McDermott and Alexis McKinney.
The concertThe conductor for the 7 p.m. Friday concert will be Thomas Hong, new assistant conductor for the PSO.Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and students. Call 412-392-4900
