Authority plans to flush hydrants

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Municipal Authority plans to flush its water hydrants from 8 p.m. to midnight May 12 through May 15.

The hydrant flushing is preventive maintenance to ensure the highest possible water quality, according to the authority.

Residents in the vicinity of the work may experience reduced water pressure and temporary discoloration of water.

Water discoloration is caused by harmless silt that can be cleared by running the faucets in the home for a couple of minutes.

The authority's service area encompasses 29 miles of domestic water lines.

For more information, call the authority office at 724-794-6552 or visit www.srmaws.com.
