Strobel 90th birthday
Betty J. Strobel, formerly of Fenelton, celebrated her 90th birthday with a family gathering at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Butler.
The former Betty June Martin was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Butler. She married the late Vincent Strobel Dec. 30, 1943, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Butler.
She has three children, Vince (Judith) of New Stanton, Patricia Kaufold of Fenelton and Nancy (Dave) Coller of Coraopolis. She also has 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She worked at American Glass Research in the original location in Meridian (now Preston Park). Her sewing skills led to work at several dress shops in Butler. She was a cashier at the original Hot Dog Shop and was a welder during World War II.
She and her husband cared for more than 17 foster babies until they were adopted by others.
She was known for her love of dancing, crocheting, crafting and reading. She is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Butler.
